Changing Halloween? -Alexa Acker

As we all know, for the longest time we've been celebrating Halloween on October 31st. This date originated thousands of years ago from when the Samhains  believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth.  Currently, there has been a new discussion asking if we should change Halloween from being on the 31st, to the last Saturday in October. A group has been recently petitioning for this date change saying that " It's time for a Safer, Longer, Stress-Free Celebration!"  Many arguments can be made for why we should officially change the date of Halloween. First of all, children are already dealing with enough stress from school and it's not fair for them to be given homework on a stress- free, fun night. Additionally, many kids show up to school tired and fatigued the next morning and can't function properly the day after a long night out. Studies from the National Sleep Foundation show that children ages 4-13 years old need around 10-11 hours of sleep...
