My Favorite Book So Far: Joe Byrnes
So far, this year, we have gone through a couple of units in class. Our first unit was all about structure and characterization. The second unit focused on the Hero Journey and Archetypes. Our third unit was Sophocles, the Greek Theater, creative expository writing, social injustice, and finding the truth. Throughout each of these units, we had to read a book, that related to that specific unit. In unit one, I read two books: Zero Day and All American Boys . This unit was all about structure and characterization. All American Boys has a very unique structure. The perspective changes from two boys in the same community. One boy is black, Rashad, and the other is white, Quinn. Rashad is abused by a police officer and Quinn is there to witness it. The alternating perspectives throughout the entire book allows the reader to see how two different people deal with what happened. Zero Day has an interes...
