A Taste of Freedom- Jack Maraziti

As June and the end of school approaches, many people are looking into what our summer will consist of.  Will we continue to social distance, or will it be like any other awesome summer?  Although it did not seem promising a few weeks ago, things are starting to look brighter for our summer fun. As of Memorial Day weekend, New Jersey Governor, Phil Murphy, has eased restrictions to allow a gathering of 25 people outside of buildings and 10 people inside if social distancing remains "intact."  As soon as the day after this small gathering was permitted, I saw a gym hold a class outside.  Even though the members had to remain 6 feet apart, it was a step towards the "normal" lifestyle we once had.  Furthermore, non-contact sports as well as summer camps will be able to resume on June 22.  Although soccer is not among the list of non-contact sports, this reduced restriction provides hope that there will at least be a soccer season next fall.  Additionall...

Guess what guys??? It's Creative Writing month!! (Woot woot!) Guess what else it is? ... almost winter... (this I'm not as excited about.) And what better way to commemorate the oncoming of winter than with a poem about summer? (I'm a genius, I know.) Now, for my past two posts, I've already done some form of creative writing—a poem, a short story—but because it's Creative Writing month, I've now got a reason to go all out! Summer - A Spoken Word Poem Summer A time for bad decisions But no regrets For the beach and the sand and oceans and tans For copious amounts of sunblock because sunburn ain’t cute A...

I haven't formed my thoughts about this school year yet because it's only the second day but my first day was straight fire. I got to reunite with the friends and meet my teachers and all the good stuff but I did burst into tears after school because I realized that I do actually have to go back every day. Not mentally prepared yet. I may have also just started sobbing because I woke up at 5:30 a.m. but I'm sure I'll have worse states of delirium as the year progresses. In all honesty, every first day of school has been the same for me since I became a sentient being somewhere around the second grade. All of the teachers ask if I'm related to my siblings who graduated long before me and have apparently left a legacy for me to fulfill. It does get a bit stressful, considering how my new teachers might adjust to me just not being as funny or creative or talented as my older brother and sister. School does have it's charming though. I desperately wanted summer to l...
