Looking Forward Into the School Year. By: Jake Ryan

As the school year has begun, there are some exciting aspects and some which are not so happy. The biggest fear is homework and stress. I feel as though one of the largest aspects of school is the stress level which it brings. Even the thought of school is stressful. Late nights of homework and studying for numerous tests you have is painful and exhausting (of course all of these tests are condensed into only a few days right in the middle of the week). Though these thoughts are on students' minds, there is always the bright side of seeing friends and getting back into fun activities. Whether it be an after school sport or club, there is an option for everyone.

I have already been looking forward to many things. One of which is the school musical. This year's production is Beauty and the Beast. Last year I enjoyed participating in the production and am so excited to be a part of this year's musical. Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorite Disney movies and I am ready for an amazing experience bringing the story to life. I hope to get the part of Chip, Mrs. Pots' son. I think it would be so exciting to act as Chip in the musical. My favorite part of participating in the musical is becoming friends with many impressive and talented people. I am so glad that I was a part of last year's production and am even more excited for this years'. Acting on stage is exhilarating, exciting, and so much fun. The best part is being with my friends on stage and knowing there are friends watching in the audience as well. Though it takes a lot of work and time, participating in the spring musical is well worth the effort.

    I'm so excited for the musical also (though I'll be behind the scenes rather than part of them)! You'd be great for Chip but I really wonder how they're going to work out that costume, and just all the costumes in general. Actually, I think the real question here though is how does one act in a teacup suit?

    I agree that it's so important to do something to get your mind off of the stresses of school. While I'm not part of the musicals, I enjoy seeing them. You would be a great Chip!

    I'm so glad I got you to do the musical last year! (I hope you'll always remember how often I had to argue with you to even show up to auditions.) I would have never expected you to like it this much, in the best way possible. Good luck on Chip, you better come to me with audition help again!

          When I contemplate what is most important in my life, my mind is drawn to my 21-year-old brother, Tom. There are not enough words in the English language I could use to describe what he means to me. I cannot imagine the past fifteen years of my life without him. Not Fate, Just a Coincidence - Sila Paniker

The idea of fate confuses me. I don't really understand how something will happen no matter what you do. It just seems very unlikely. I think we're constantly making choices that lead to occurrences. We make so many decisions a day that it seems impossible that fate can find a way around it all.  Awhile ago, I saw something called the Butterfly Effect, which doesn't exactly relate to fate but it makes sense to me. The idea is that a butterfly flapping its wings can cause a tornado on the other side of the world. Essentially, small changes can have large impacts. In my head, this connects with the thousands of tiny decisions we subconsciously make each day.
