My Sophomore Year (and why it's too early to have thoughts on it) -Paige De Giovanni
However, so far I've only lived through four days of it! It's way too early to have full-fledged thoughts about the school year!
I feel like it's strange to have this topic to write in September for our collective blog as we haven't had a full, (or almost full), experience as Sophomores. I feel like to have a full opinion on something, you need to fully experience it. Only experiencing four days of school and writing a blog post about it is like trying a plate of food with mashed potatoes, steak, and fries and then concluding that you hate the entire meal because the one fry you picked up and took a bite out of was too hard for your soft teeth to chew and a little cold. That steak might've been delicious. You just haven't tried it yet.
And yes, I'm aware this topic is extremely loose, and I'm actually enjoying writing analogies for my thoughts at too late of an hour to be writing this post, but this is my claim for the purposes of writing this. These thoughts on the topic really haven't left my mind since I heard about this blog and the topic.
Despite my concerns about the topic (and for the now irony of this blog post), here are my thoughts on the school year:
I actually really like most of my teachers. I know, like I said above I don't want to make assumptions too soon, but the majority of them seem really eager to teach and kind and also seem like really genuine people.
On the other hand, the majority of my classes are (or will be) insanely difficult. I've already done awful on a quiz in AP Bio, and I barely remember how to form a correct conjugated sentence in French class. Right now my favorite class is math, a subject I normally hate, solely because I get to sit across from my best friend, draw some lines because it's geometry, and relax to some extent as it is one of my easier classes. The teacher is also lovely.

Me and said friend in math class, as a photo is necessary. We've been in the same math since Mr. Kopp's pre-algebra. |
I love this blog post, it's so full of personality! I also love your plate of food/steak/mashed potatoes/fries analogy—it got your point across well and made me laugh.
ReplyDeletethank you! I'm glad I made you laugh lol
DeleteI love your analogy! I definitely agree that it is too early to have made strong opinions about the school year, and it's hard to believe it has only been five days. My favorite part of your blog was when you tied in the analogy at the end! That was really creative and clever.
ReplyDeletethank you so much!
DeleteGreat voice in this piece! Remember you didn't have to submit this post until 9/30, so you could have waited to develop more opinions! : )
ReplyDeletethat's true! Maybe I'll add more as the month continues!
DeleteMr. Kopp's pre-algebra ;((((((( what a great class (even tho we didn't have it together). takes me back
ReplyDeleteI know right :(( I miss him and his math class. It was the best math I've taken
