One Year Down and On To The Next: By Joe Byrnes

As Sophomore year starts up, I look back at all the memories from my Freshman year. From sports to school itself, Freshman year was one to never forget and I hope the same for this year. I've played football since I was young and out of all of the teams I have been on, and out of all the games I have played, I have to say Freshman football was my favorite. Our team was fantastic last year. We went undefeated and did not allow any of the eight teams we played to score on us. Winning every game and going unscored upon wasn't the only reason why Freshman football was my favorite year. It was the coaches and teammates I had that made it great too.
Football was not the only memory that I will always remember from last year. I will also always remember the events that I went too and the people in my grade. I was a part of several events last year because I joined student council by becoming the treasurer of my grade. I was able to help out at the Turkey Trot, go on a field trip to another school to discuss how different schools run student council, and help plan great events for our school. Helping plan and attending the dances were a blast, but a lot of work. When I first joined student council I thought that I would struggle to get my own school work done because of the time and energy I would need to put into student council. For example, last year around Christmas time we had to decorate the doors of each homeroom in our hallway. We were at the school until 7:00 pm working on decorating each door with wrapping paper and lights. Despite the hard work, I still love the time I spend working on student council projects.
Now that Sophomore year is here, I hope that it is just as great as Freshman year was. I am playing football again and I hope that we will be just as successful as we were last year. In addition to playing football again, I will be a member of student council this year. I want my time with student council this year to be even better than it was last year. I hope that there are more school events and that our grade will make more money than we did before.
All in all, reminiscing on my Freshman year of high school shows how exciting it was and now I hope the same for my Sophomore year of high school. Now that one year is in the books, it is time to focus on the next.

  3. I agree that Freshman year was one of my favorite school years, but I expect to have more work than I did last year because we are getting closer to finishing high school, so I hope you can find time to finish all of your homework and participate in student council because it seems like it very fun for you. Joe, I hope your football team does as good as it did last year again and I also hope you play well. Good luck in Sophomore year!
