School Part 10- Back With a vengence
-Riley Taylor
This Months question for this blog is what I think about school. While school is a necessary step in becoming a successful adult, there is much that I disagree with. For example, the material provided. Such a small percentage of subjects and skills mastered in school have any practical use outside of school walls. The actual statistic is around 14% of skills learned in school have been applied to real life. One thing Iv'e learned about school this year, is the teachers can also make of brake your course with them. These teachers are the reasons a lot of students like the classes in the building we call school. I think that school means a lot to a select group of people, and that's good for them in their own respective ways. But I perceive school as something that must be dealt with. There really isn't any avoiding it. However, on the other end of the spectrum, school isn't a prison, like some people describe it as. It's actually not the worst thing in the world. Normally I like to play devil's advocate on topics such as this. All in all, my opinion on school is simple. School is a Necessary evil. But its an evil I've come to peace with.
It's also a bit of a right of passage.
ReplyDeleteI agree that we won't end up using many of the things we learn in school in our everyday lives, but I feel that is only because the school doesn't know what we are going to grow up to be, so they give us a general knowledge of everything. That way, we probably won't end up using everything we learn, but we will be prepared to go into any field of study once we graduate.
