Life Size Barbie Dream House by Gabby Olarte

    Since the topic for our blogs this week is "current event" I wanted to find a story that was interesting and not about politics. In doing my research, I came across a life sized Barbie Dreamhouse. I know that when a lot of us were little, we played with Barbies and I for one, always wanted the Barbie Dreamhouse. So now when I discovered that there is a possibility that I could stay in a real life dreamhouse, I had to share my discovery.

     To celebrate Barbie's 60th anniversary, Airbnb listed her house for this one time only. It is available to book starting October 23rd, at 11 a.m. for one person and three friends for two nights. The lucky guests are able to stay at the house from October 27th to October 29th for a single $60 stay. The house includes many similar features to the toy house including a pink jeep and even a pink water slide from the balcony to the pool with a view of California's coast. Along with that, the closet is filled with outfits that Barbie has worn. A stay in the Barbie Dreamhouse also includes some of Barbie's careers/hobbies. This includes fencing lessons, cookie lessons, and a makeover from celebrity stylist, Jen Atkin.

    Not only would being able to stay in Barbie's house be a dream come true, but Airbnb will also make a donation to The Barbie Dream Gap Project GoFundMe initiative. This project helps give young girls resources and support they need to accomplish their goals and "level the playing field" between boys and girls.

          When I contemplate what is most important in my life, my mind is drawn to my 21-year-old brother, Tom. There are not enough words in the English language I could use to describe what he means to me. I cannot imagine the past fifteen years of my life without him. Not Fate, Just a Coincidence - Sila Paniker

The idea of fate confuses me. I don't really understand how something will happen no matter what you do. It just seems very unlikely. I think we're constantly making choices that lead to occurrences. We make so many decisions a day that it seems impossible that fate can find a way around it all.  Awhile ago, I saw something called the Butterfly Effect, which doesn't exactly relate to fate but it makes sense to me. The idea is that a butterfly flapping its wings can cause a tornado on the other side of the world. Essentially, small changes can have large impacts. In my head, this connects with the thousands of tiny decisions we subconsciously make each day.
