NY Giants -By Bektur

Ever since I was little, my favorite team has always been the Giants. I can still remeber the  2011-2012 season when the Giants, the underdogs with a 9-7 record, played the seemingly unstoppable Patriots for the second time in the Super Bowl. I could also remember the excitement and happiness I felt when they won. Back to the present however, the same rush and excitement is gone, only to be replaced with dissapointment and heartbreak. Ever since the superbowl, the Giants have made the playoffs only once in 7 years, with an average record of 7-9 per season. And this year, unlike all the other years, I came into the football season with my expectations low for them. Too many years of false hope only caused pain and I was done being optimistic for them. Here's how the season is going so far....

As I'm writing this, the Giants are currently 2-3, third in their division, only one win behind 1st place. The start doesn't seem that bad, seeing as how the division is that close, and how Saquon Barkley, their star running back, was out for 2 of those games. The Giants also made the decision to start Daniel Jones, their rookie QB. He looks very good already and my belief is that he'll only get better overtime, picking up experience as he plays. Looking at their upcoming schedule, they have games against the Jets, Redskins and Dolphins that I consider to be automatic wins, so they'll at least finish the season with 5 wins. The rest of the 11 upcoming games however, will have to be hardfought.

My predictions for this season, despite what I said earlier, are pretty optimistic. How can I not root for my favorite team even if they've dissapointed me continually? Isn't a fan suppossed to have hope for their team through the highs and lows(the very low lows), no matter how far fetched those hopes might be? And now saying this, I truly believe that the Giants have a shot, a small, tiny, size-of-a-keyhole shot, of making the playoffs through the wildcard position, with a record of 9-7 or 10-6. It'll be a miracle if they get higher though, but miracles can happen. It's my hope that the Giants will have one of their first promising seasons in a verrrryyy long time

  2. Woah playing the Jets is NOT an automatic win buddy. Jets got the dub against the Cowboys (yeah I know it's the Cowboys but whatever) and in my book a win is a win so giants better watch out. "I consider to be automatic wins" pshhh we'll see!

  3. I really felt that first paragraph ;( Giants need to step up the rest of the games this season and make there millions of fans proud.

  4. In my opinion, the Cowboys are going to win the division. We're going to end up on a late season run like last year. I do think Daniel Jones is the future of the Giants. I hope he proves all the haters wrong.

  5. Although I really dislike the Giants, I am a major fan of the Penn State college football team. When the Giants drafted Saquon Barkley, I knew I wouldn't like to root for the Giants, but I really enjoy watching Barkley play and he is one of my favorite players. I hope that Barkley does well in his NFL career. In spite of the fact that the Giants have had a few consecutive seasons where they performed poorly, I see that in the future they could be a threat if they continue to make good draft picks.

  6. I am sorry, but I dislike the Giants. I like the Steelers. Although I do not like the Giants, I have to say I enjoy watching Saquon Barkley play. He is such an amazing running back and athlete. He has a big future in the NFL. However, I have to say that Devin Bush on the steelers is going to win Defensive Player of the Year.
