Little Brothers By: Norah Monaghan

I often wonder what goes through my younger brother's mind when he's annoying me or why he feels the need to bother me in general. What drives him to come into my room when I'm busy just to annoy me? I would like to think it's because my younger brother loves me so much and its his way of showing affection, but I really do not know why he always feels the need to bug me. Its been 14 years since my younger brother, Declan was born which means I've had plenty of time to think over why my brother can't seem to leave me alone. Here are some of my theories...
My brother's destiny is to make sure I am a humble person which is why whenever I do something good, my brother feels the need to immediately make me aware of my flaws.

Declan learned the English language the wrong way, so when he insults me he's actually complimenting. I get compliments from him a lot.

My younger brother loves me so much that all day at school he misses me with his whole heart. He makes up for our time apart by keeping me company the rest of the night by yelling in my ear.

Declan looks up to me (technically down on me because I'm the shortest) that he wants to be exactly like me, and therefore has to study my reaction to people bothering me.

He has an alarm that goes off whenever I'm busy, letting him know that it's time to tell me about the recent giants game, which he knows I don't care about when I have a science quarterly the next day.

My brother gets very short amnesia spells and forgets my real name, so he uses unnecessarily obnoxious nicknames to get my attention because he can't remember my actual name.

Declan is in eighth grade no, so I guess if I haven't been left alone by this point it won't be happening anytime soon. It's okay though because I don't mind playing football with him if it means I can procrastinate my homework or tell him that in order for me to listen to his rants he has to help me clean my room.
