Older Sister- Lauren Ambrosino
I’ve had an older sister now for 15 years and I’ve learned quite a few things. Having an older sister
for me, could be broken down into stages, like by age. Each age range changes our relationship. My
older sister, Erika, is 3 years older than me and is like my twin. Everyone of her friends who talks to me always mentions how we look so similar and we sound the exact same. I’ve even heard someone from my choir class tell me we have the same singing voice! It might seem annoying but it’s actually really entertaining when people tell me these things. Now let me break it down into stages of an older sister.
The first stage is me when I was a baby and she was in her toddler years. At this age she adored me
because I was her cute little baby sister. That didn’t last very long.

The next stage is when I was a toddler and she was around 7 or 8. At this time, our mom dressed us and
she always made us match. I can’t remember much from then (cause I was like 3) but I’m pretty sure
we were friendly.

The following stage was one of the worst and basically still goes on, but this stage is when she learned
how to use me. Basically, since i bowed down to my older sister, she would make me do everything for
her. She also liked to trick me a lot like telling me scary stories. Not only that but she would lie to me, like
if she took one of my shirts and I asked, she would lie until it would magically appear in my drawer again.
This stage really never phased out but this is around when she found out I would do everything for her.

The next stage is a few years later when I was in middle school and she was in high school. I was her
annoying little 6th grade sister and she was a big 9th grader. For the next three years we fought a little bit
more than usual because we were both sassy teens and I was also a middle schooler. We still got along
for the most part though.

Then the last stage, which is my personal favorite, is when I went into high school and she was still in
high school. We were finally able to relate to each other about school and friends and life that we grew
super close. We spent a lot of time together that we could and talked all the time. Now, still in this stage,
except she is in college and no longers lives at home. Although I don’t see her all the time, we still talk
every day and I look forward to the days she comes home.

Although we’ve been through many stages, she's my best friend and always will be.
I love how relatable this is because I'm sure all of us have stages like this with our own siblings.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you guys are close, but this is totally normal to have these stages!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute. I hated sister when she was in high school but now we're super close so I totally get it. Also, your sister and I worked at the same summer camp! I hope I see her next summer!
ReplyDeleteEven though my sister is younger than me, I have a very similar relationship timeline with her but reversed. We were always polar opposites and still kind of are but as we get older she became my best friend.

ReplyDeleteLauren, this is so cute! I completely understand what you mean when you say you can better relate to each other as you get older. My sister is eight years older than I am so I get it.
