One of Us is Lying book report by Matt Byrnes

Earlier in the year, I read the book One of Us is Lying for the unit that contained the compare and contrast essay. Like every unit, I was introduced to a bunch of books. This book, in particular, caught my eye immediately. I thought I would enjoy it and I did. When I read the blurb about the book, the mystery kind of feel really interested me.
5  high school students were in a detention room. One dies inside the room. No one knows why or how. The other 4 students in the room were suspects in the student's death. The four students were Bronwyn, Nate, Cooper, and Addy. The student who died was Simon.
Throughout the book, you will love how you connect with Bronwyn, Cooper, Addy, and Nate. Aside from being suspects in a murder investigation of one of their classmates, they are fairly normal high schoolers. Bronwyn is one of the smartest kids in her school and she's 100% ivy bound. Nate is a  somewhat lonely kid at times who's dealt with a lot of family issues. Nate also used to sell drugs. Cooper is an athletic kid who poured his heart and soul into baseball. Cooper is one of the best high school pitchers in the nation. Addy is one of the most popular girls in her school and is applauded because of how good her hair looks. Right off the bat when you start reading is when Simon is killed. From that point on, Addy, Nate, Cooper, and Bronwyn go about their daily lives while dealing with the investigation going on about Simon's death. As a reader, you get to experience their lives after Simon's death for weeks. Plus, you get to experience it from all four perspectives. The author, Karen McManus, did a really good job of setting this up. Every chapter is always from someone else's perspective. Even in the middle of chapters, it will switch. Me personally, I couldn't put the book down because of suspense. I enjoyed reading how about they dealt with normal high school problems while at the same time, you as the reader and the 4 students don't know how Simon died and by who.
If I were to rate this book on a 5-star scale, I would give it the full 5 stars. I usually don't give 5 stars out to books unless I'm absolutely blown away. This book blew me away. I loved it so much. I loved it so much that I'm planning on getting the sequel to One of Us is Lying when it comes out very soon on January 7th. If anyone is reading this you NEED to read One of Us is Lying. It sucks you in. You can't stop reading it once you pick it up.
