Family: Joe Byrnes

          When I think of something important to me, several things come straight to my mind: Football, the sport I love to play, School, Teachers, and Music. However, one thing I do not want to breeze by is family. To me, family is probably one of the most important things.
          Family is there for you no matter what happens. I know that whatever decisions I make or whatever events happen, my family will always be there to support me. Life is not easy. Everyone has their highs and lows throughout life. These moments can either be the best times in your life or the worst times where you think it cannot get any worse. When you think you have hit rock bottom and nobody cares anymore, you're wrong. Your family cares. They are there to help, love, and support you through whatever it is.
          There are times when you just cannot stand your family and you wished you had a different one. Although there are those few times where we butt heads and wish we had a different family, the amazing moments you have outweigh the bad times. Family is the one group of people we cannot choose. We are able to choose our friends, but family is different. Not being able to pick your family allows you to be surrounded by the people you relate to best. Every member of your family always pushes you to do your best. Your family pushes you harder than anyone in your life because they are the ones who know you best and know you can handle it. They are the ones who know you can reach the goal you aspire, no matter what.
          My family has made who I am today. Without my parents forcing me to do well and school and the constant feeling of needing to do better in school than my brothers, I would not be where I am today. The consistent urge from my parents to excel in school has made me the type of student, person, and worker I am today. The sense of rivalry between my brothers and myself has led me to always do my best in school.
          Each and every one of my family members has played an immense role in making them so special to me. My brothers have made every so fun. Since I have three of them, there is always somebody to do something with. Also, since we all like to do different things, I get to do things that I wouldn't necessarily think of first. My mom has always been there for. She sacrifices so much. Even when she is tired and does not want to do anything, she is always there to help me. Finally, my dad. My dad is always there to support me in anything I do. From school to sports, he is always cheering me on.
          You should never forget the importance of family. They are the ones who are always there for you and will always love you. Despite the fact that some people may consider very close friends as family, friends come and go, and great friends are hard to come by. You can have tons of friends, but you only have one family, and family will always be there.

          When I contemplate what is most important in my life, my mind is drawn to my 21-year-old brother, Tom. There are not enough words in the English language I could use to describe what he means to me. I cannot imagine the past fifteen years of my life without him. Allow me to start from the beginning.           Even when I was an infant, he never failed to take me out of my crib, strap me in my high chair, and cook scrambled eggs for us (at the tender age of six). Not Fate, Just a Coincidence - Sila Paniker

The idea of fate confuses me. I don't really understand how something will happen no matter what you do. It just seems very unlikely. I think we're constantly making choices that lead to occurrences. We make so many decisions a day that it seems impossible that fate can find a way around it all.  Awhile ago, I saw something called the Butterfly Effect, which doesn't exactly relate to fate but it makes sense to me. The idea is that a butterfly flapping its wings can cause a tornado on the other side of the world. Essentially, small changes can have large impacts. In my head, this connects with the thousands of tiny decisions we subconsciously make each day. There are people I've met or things that have happened and it feels like it was meant to be but they're just a bunch of coincidences that had the ability to change everything.
