Lacrosse By Norah Monaghan

One thing that has always been important to me is lacrosse. Since I began playing in fourth grade,
I have been in love with lacrosse. I tried a lot of sports over the years and lacrosse has always been
my clear favorite. It's important to me, not only because I love playing the sport, but also because it
has given me my best friends and a lot of great memories. From 4th grade to 8th grade I played with
the same group of girls from my grade. I made a lot of great memories with them.
I will always remember the time one of my best friends, Sofia, was playing goalie at one of our tournaments in eighth grade. While attempting to block a low shot with her foot, Sofia somehow got her cleat stuck in the net of the goal. She bounced around on one foot trying to get her cleat free. Then, in what seemed like slow motion, the goal fell over as Sofia was trying to get her foot out of the net. Instead of picking the goal up, the two of us started dying laughing. The refs didn't find it very funny though because it was a shortened game and they saw the goal falling over as nothing but an inconvenience. Our laughing only furthered their annoyance. Somehow Sofia made the save and we ended up winning despite the mishap. We still laugh about this today.
Even though I don't play with the same people anymore, I will never forget all the great times I had
with them. Lacrosse is important to me for a lot of reasons and has taught me so many great lessons
and introduced me to a lot of great people. I wouldn't trade lacrosse for anything.
