My Family- Jolie Dottinger

Family is the people who will always be with you no matter what. They will lift you up when you're down and support you with anything you do. While people you meet in your life come and go, your family is permanent and will forever be your family. The environment I grew up in I will always feel blessed for. Being raised by a mom and dad, and sharing a childhood with my two best friends, an older sister, and brother. Each of these amazing people who are unique in their own ways has helped shape me into the person I am today and am meant to be.

My Mom: My mom and I have a connection that many people might not have with their mothers. Over the past few years, we have gotten so much closer than even imaginable. She boosts my confidence when I'm feeling unsure and she always knows exactly the right thing to say or do no matter the situation I'm in and need help with. She showers me with endless love, and care and does a countless amount of things for me.

My Dad: My dad is my rock. He has made me as strong and tough as I am and continues to teach me how to not be afraid to be me and to stand up for myself. Without him, I wouldn't have a role model that I can also call my hero. He protects and cares for my family and would do whatever it took to make sure we're all okay all the time. He welcomes me with open, safe arms, that reassures me without hesitation.

My Sister: My sister, has forever and will always be my built-in best friend. Without a doubt, we've always had such a natural and strong connection ever since I was born. We're practically inseparable and we act as if we're twins even though she is 6 years older than me. She holds such a special place in my heart and I love her beyond words.

My Brother: My brother and I have not always been close, and I am so thankful for how much we are now. Ever since I was old enough to talk, we would fight. Not actually, but we would argue and bicker every day and possible chance we got. However, as we got older and matured that slowly faded especially when my sister went to college and now he is my other best friend.

These people are what makes me, me.

          When I contemplate what is most important in my life, my mind is drawn to my 21-year-old brother, Tom. There are not enough words in the English language I could use to describe what he means to me. I cannot imagine the past fifteen years of my life without him. Allow me to start from the beginning.           Even when I was an infant, he never failed to take me out of my crib, strap me in my high chair, and cook scrambled eggs for us (at the tender age of six). He did this so my mother could catch up on sleep in the mornings and take care of me however he could. I only wish I could return the favour in some way. Not Fate, Just a Coincidence - Sila Paniker

The idea of fate confuses me. I don't really understand how something will happen no matter what you do. It just seems very unlikely. I think we're constantly making choices that lead to occurrences. We make so many decisions a day that it seems impossible that fate can find a way around it all.  Awhile ago, I saw something called the Butterfly Effect, which doesn't exactly relate to fate but it makes sense to me. The idea is that a butterfly flapping its wings can cause a tornado on the other side of the world. Essentially, small changes can have large impacts. In my head, this connects with the thousands of tiny decisions we subconsciously make each day. There are people I've met or things that have happened and it feels like it was meant to be but they're just a bunch of coincidences that had the ability to change everything.
