Something Important to Me - Lauren Ambrosino
This month we had to write about something important to us. I immediately thought of my dog, who’s a tiny Boston Terrier and his names Ollie. For many obvious reasons dogs are amazing, but he’s extra special. Everyday I come home, he’s the first to greet me by running up to me. He jumps around and gets really excited which puts me in a good mood.
We first got him when I was in fifth grade and my other dog had just passed away. My mom was
really sad after our last dog died because that was her first baby, but Ollie made her happy agai
My mom, sister, brother, and I all went to some woman in New York's house where she also had
birds, cats, horses, and I think a pig. We originally went to see a girl puppy because we just had
a girl and wanted to keep the trend going, but when the woman meant to bring her out, Ollie
escaped and came running out. We had an immediate connection towards him and the way
he greeted us, especially because he has the same birthday as my sister. We fell in love with
him and ended up going home with him. The girl was too frail and was a little sick at the time and
figured she wasn’t the right fit for our family. We brought him home and didn’t tell my dad. What a
nice surprise. My eleven year old self was OBSESSED with him, of course. He was crazy as
could be, chewing our chews, couch, clothes. But, over the years we’ve taught him cool tricks
like come, sit, jump, and even how to do a high five! We’re still working on lay down though.

Having him around has made our house much more positive. He comes on every car ride with
us, vacation, walk, anything. He really likes walking to the beach and going on the swings.
Whenever my mom, or anyone, isn’t in a good mood, she sees Ollie and is instantly happy. I
personally love when we bring Ollie on car rides to pick up my friends. My friend Ali is his favorite,
I think, because every time she gets in the car, he jumps onto her and gets so excited. Ali loves
him too of course. I wouldn’t trade my pup for the world and am so happy he accidentally
escaped the day we got him.
