Tennis by Charlotte Putnam

Tennis among many other things is important for me. Tennis is where I have met some of my favorite people.
Tennis is where I get my anger out. Running around the court, hitting that neon ball. And if I can actually play that day, it's fun for me.
Tennis is where I can relax, because I don't have to prove myself to anyone else.
Tennis is where I got my first job, teaching peewee children how to play and hit the ball over the net.
It's also my first "sport" I have truly enjoyed playing and stuck with.

For those of you reading this thinking "Tennis is a sissy sport, who cares about it" well 1.) That's why you don't play it 2.) Maybe don't read this lovely blog post about it.

Tennis is a mind game. Once someone gets in your head it's game over. Tennis has taught me how to keep thoughts out of my head. How to stay in the game.

Tennis has taught me how to stand up for myself. When someone lies about a line call, I know how to stand up and get the point I earned.

Tennis has taught me sportsmanship. That even when I'm loosing to not only keep trying, but don't take it out on my partner, or become rude to the opponents.

Tennis, while it might just be a sport, is imporntant to me.
