Parasite - Bektur Totoshev
Parasite is a masterpiece. No, not the actual parasite, but Parasite, the first non-American film to win both Best Foriegn Film and Best Picture. One of the greatest movies I have ever seen, if not the greatest. Like, it's really good. Really good. It's a Korean film that tackles the social class divides between the rich and the poor in Korea. More specifically, it's about a lower-class family that slowly starts to use a higher-class family, hence the name, "Parasite". That's practically all I want to say without spoiling it, and I would say that watching this movie without knowing anything is actually for the best. It's a movie that has good humor and an unpredictable plot with a big-twist that will change your view point from just enjoying it to being fully immeresed. I can see how subtitles can turn some people away but just watch it. It's really good.
Recently, Parasite became a big topic for discussion, as it became the first non-American film to win an Oscar for Best Picture. There is a lot of criticism against the film, saying that foriegn films have their own category, Best Foriegn Film, and that when they win that category, which Parasite did, they shouldn't be allowed to win Best Picture. But that's just kind of stupid in my opinion. If it's the best movie, than it's the best movie, regardless of wether or not it was made in America or not. And nobody says that to 1917, the movie that was probably in 2nd place for best picture, even though it was made in the UK, which since 1776, hasn't been part of the US if I remember correctly. In fact, 1917 wasn't even in the Best Foriegn Film category? ...Wack.
In conclusion, Parasite deserves every award it has won and go watch it go watch it go watch it go watch it go watch it go watch it go watch it, do it, go watch it go watch it go watch it go watch it go watch it go watch it go, are you hypnotized yet, watch it go watch it go watch it go watch it please go watch it go watch it go watch it

Parasite sounds really interesting! I definitely want to go watch it go watch it go watch it go watch it go watch it go watch it now. (No, not hypnotized, but convinced nonetheless.)
ReplyDeleteI never understood why subtitles is such a turn off for some people. I watched a lot of anime back in the day so I guess I'm used to it #subsnotdubs
ReplyDeleteYou make me want to go and watch it. Strange that people don't think it should win Best film.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds really interesting and it's really cool that this is the first non-American film to win both awards.
ReplyDeleteThat picture is super creepy. Might have to not watch this one, too scary!
