The Super Bowl - Andy Stefancik

As February begins another Super Bowl has come and gone, and this year it was actually a pretty good game. For the 54th Super Bowl, the match up was between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs. The game was played at Miami Gardens this past Sunday, and it lived up to the expectations of sports fans all over the country.

To understand why this was a large breath of fresh air for a lot of football fans, you have to go back to last year's Super Bowl. The game was between the Patriots and the Rams, and it was arguably the most boring Super Bowl in history. The Patriots won 13-3, and the lack of offensive talent on the field led to a real snooze fest for a lot of fans. However, this year it was different.

How would Patrick Mahomes, the star quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs, be able to handle himself against Nick Bosa and the number one ranked San Francisco defense. The 49ers had gotten to the big game because of a year-long stellar performance by their defense and their heavy reliance on the run game on offense. The Chiefs dominated the AFC with their high flying offense led by Mahomes and the lightning fast receiver Tyreek Hill. It was a very anticipated game just due to the fact that it really seemed like an even match on almost all fronts. There was no overwhelming favorite in the game, which is excellent for most viewers like myself. As long as my team isn't in the Super Bowl, I generally just route for a good, entertaining game, and we got one this year.

As predicted, it was a close game all the way through. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs didn't play excellent for the first three quarters, but in the fourth quarter, they turned it on. Scoring three touchdowns in the last 6:17 of the game. They ended up winning 31-20, and unless you were a 49ers fan, you couldn't really be disappointing with this game.

With the New England Patriots being in 4 of the previous 5 Super Bowls prior to this year's game, just not having them in the game was enough to get fans excited for the game. On top of that, it was a very even game that had everything: turn overs, touchdowns, sacks, big plays, and a big comeback at the end of the game. There was nothing to complain about after this game, and I think a lot of football fans, while still sad that the season came to an end, were still very satisfied with how it ended.
