cabin fever - Mel Schweizer

writing a poem about cabin fever and the effect of the virus

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Every morning, just the same,
the days are bleeding together
In my house, I have to stay
Will it be like this forever?
I don't move, I won't walk
My eyes are focused on the clock
I'll wake up
have my coffee
not enough
need more caffeine
I'll lay in bed until the sun sets
Losing sense of reality
Oh my god, I'm a hot mess
Well, minus the hot, really
Outside my home a war is waging
A virus versus human beings.
Will we win
Will it leave?
Does it matter?
All I've done is sleep
I want to get out
I want to leave
No one's there
Who will stop me?
But I have nowhere to go
Unless I just go on my own
There's no point in leaving, is there?
I want some fresh air
But I'd rather be asleep
No. I can't just up and leave.
I hope this doesn't last much longer
What is even happening to me?
Losing motivation- I can't bother
I just might snap and go all "here's Johnny"
"a virus versus human beings"
Actually, it's quite funny
Something so small
can just kill us all...
Maybe it's not the funniest joke,
but I need something more than hope
Quarantine
I'm going crazy

Hundreds of Michigan residents being home quarantined for possible ...

  1. Excellent poem! I think we're all starting to get a little stir crazy.
