It's About Time by Noelle Hanek
It is March now, and the moment I have been waiting for is finally arriving. That's right, the time has finally come where the sun is going to move across the celestial equator. In case you are wondering what in the world I am talking about, I am referring to the Spring equinox, meaning March 19th of this very month will begin the Spring season! You may be wondering why I am dedicating my blog post to this, but the answer is; this is the greatest time of the year for me! Before everyone tells me that Spring means finals and increased stress and allergies are coming up and bla bla bla let me convince you why this is a time of year to be excited about.
A.) Spring is a major mood booster for many people including myself. Something about Springtime just increases my happiness level and my energy level to the highest degree possible. On an average Spring day, I am automatically energized for the entire day and the next morning the cycle repeats. I feel super restless, but in a good way where I am excited to do anything, go somewhere, or accomplish something. It's not that I don't feel this way at all during other seasons but it's just that Spring seems to effortlessly bring these feelings to me. And when everyone else is also in a happy mood, everything is better than before.
B.) The days are longer! In the Winter I get tired super early because it is so dark all the time. I always begin panicking since I haven't started my homework and it is already night time, even though in reality it is only 5:00! However, when it becomes Spring we gain the stolen sunlight back from us so now the days can last longer, and I can start my homework later and feel good about it.
C.) We finally get to say goodbye to the cold. Spring marks the era of when it gets warmer and in many circumstances the temperatures are perfect: they are not boiling hot but not freezing cold either. I am sick of the icy snow and I'm ready for better. That's where Spring comes into play. Thanks Spring.
D.) Guess who's back? The plants and animals are! It's been months since we last have seen our fellow creatures, or any sort of life form for that matter. Seeing our surroundings sprout with life brings happiness to the soul. The land is no longer desolate and barren which it was for the longest time. This is a great change. The signs of life returning is so uplifting!
E.) We cannot forget about the rain. It will rain again which is exciting because in the Winter all it does is snow which gets boring after a while. Spring weather is never boring! It brings up the humidity and temperatures beforehand, and then you can breathe the refreshed post-storm air afterward. Not to mention, rain is so relaxing. Sometimes we all need a break to just listen to the rain, maybe while some good music plays in the background so it feels like some movie scene. That's why I absolutely love the rain, and Spring brings this back for us.
F.) And lastly, it is the end of the school year! Spring is the season that leads to the beginning of our long awaited summer break that we all love. However, everyone seems to forget the fact that this time period is so great because not only are we gifted warm summer weather, but it also leads up to summer break (the beginning of the break is the best) which is something to look forward to.
Now I am aware that allergies are not the best during the Springtime, and then the thought of finals begins to haunt us, but just think about it: we may receive bad allergies and finals at the same time of the year, but having these in the Spring compared to any other time makes things just a little bit better. Plus, there are so many positives that outweigh all of the criticisms Spring gets.
One more thing, I know people see summer as superior to Spring, and I get it, there is so much I am looking forward to this summer. Yet, everyone skips over Spring as if it doesn't exist. The first half of Spring that's usually colder is merged with Winter and when it becomes warmer all of a sudden it is summer. But it is the season of Spring! So all I am saying is we should stop and appreciate the Spring this year, and everything it has to bring for us.
I hope with all of the negative and hectic occurrences people will be discussing during this month's blog (ehem, Coronavirus I'm looking at you), this will be something current to actually look forward to. So now, who else is excited???

I also love spring! My favorite part is all of the plants which bloom, it is so pretty seeing all of the bright colors.
ReplyDeleteI agree that Spring is a big mood booster and it's so nice when it's 6 pm and not dark out yet!
ReplyDeleteI need to live somewhere where it's eternally spring
ReplyDeleteI've never liked winter. It's too cold for me. I like Spring because it's warmer and not too hot. It's also not pitch-dark out when going to school even if it means losing an hour of sleep. The darkness just makes me more tired. With longer and warmer days, I can ride my bike down my street when I'm done with homework (well, if I finish before 7).
