Nick's Random Thoughts On Today's Situation, Not About The Actual Coronavirus- Nick Hwang

It is the talk on the news, the new pandemic, the monstrous, evil, deathly coronavirus. Everyone is buying their masks, avoiding Chinatown, and becoming complete germaphobes because this virus has made its way to the United States. There is a new update every day on the progress of this virus and how deadly it is. It has caused the economy to drop, cruise lines have been struggling, and even airlines. People all around the world are buying face masks to prevent this virus from getting into their system. However, this is not new information to most people, so instead of talking about the coronavirus, its effects, and its exponential growth, I am going to talk about two things - the ridiculous hit taken by the Corona Beverage Company, and why this ever-so-feared virus can benefit some families.

It really is a bad time for any company to be named Corona in such a time like this. Uneducated individuals around the U.S. have been avoiding this company and its products because of the virus that is going around. Some have even gone as far as to criticize and ridicule the advertisement of Corona Beer during this time. Crazy, isn’t it? Corona beer has no correlation whatsoever to the novel coronavirus, yet the company took a major hit. In one month’s time, from February 20 to March 23, Corona beer’s stock plummeted in excess of 50%. Luckily, over the past few days, Constellation Brands’ Stock has been slowly but surely crawling its way back up.

If Wall Street continues to plummet, schools are shut down, and people are forced to quarantine themselves, how can one possibly look at this pandemic with a positive attitude? Great question. Ever since school was shut down, and ever since we have been trapped in our homes, I have seen more kids outside, playing with their parents, more people walking their pets, or walking with family. In short, this virus is indirectly bringing families together, reestablishing the bonds between family members, because in today’s world, mothers and fathers seldom see their children, let alone alone spend quality time with them and have fun.

  1. The family time that we are able to spend together now is great.

  2. I agree that the family time is really so nice because most families are so busy that it's hard to find time to sit down and play a game and now we can do that every night if we want. The Corona beer part is part funny and part ridiculous. But, so many businesses are suffering and I have no idea how many will be able to recover from it.

  3. My family drinks Corona and since there's way too many cases of them at the grocery store, our fridge is full of them. At least we won't run out lol.
