The flying taxi market is ready for takeoff, changing the travel experience forever-Parker Williamson
Isn't it the worst when you get stuck in traffic. You just want to fly over everyone and get where you want to go. Then you just think of the movie back to the future 2 where their cars flew everywhere. Imagine you could fly instead of driving everywhere. Well actually many companies are working on that. Major car brands such as Toyota, Hyundai, and Uber are working on getting taxis in the sky. Air taxis, as they are called, will be able to go up to speeds of 180 miles per hour on all electric power. This could make transportation easier and also more environment friendly.
An Urban air mobility study by Frost and Sullivan sees air taxis beginning in 2022 in Dubai. Another study says that the autonomous aircraft market will be worth $1.5 trillion by 2040. So it's actually gonna happen. We're going to have flying taxis. Though they don't look like car taxis. They look like a mixture between a drone and a plane.
There could be risks in flying one of these though. People may be scared to go on one of these taxis because of Kobe Bryant's helicopter accident. There is a risk that that could happen but they aren't even out to drive around in there is still research and modification being done. Another risk is that they can be a target for hackers. The air taxi is autonomous which means it is driven by AI. Well if a hacker gets in they can drive and that will not be a fun ride. The regulations in development cover everything from safety, and airworthiness to software security so there is no need to worry about those risks. Air taxis will be a cool addition to transportation and with really help with traffic.

This is a really interesting idea. Like you said, I have always wished that I could have a flying car while in traffic. It's cool that it might actually become reality in our life-time.
ReplyDeleteI also wonder how feasible this is for everyday people, but the idea is really interesting.
