Top 4 Distractions and How I Deal with Them-Parker Williamson
Sometimes I find myself drowned in work from school. Truth is it's not their fault, it's mine. I allow myself to get distracted from my work and do other things and just keep putting it off. That is how I find myself in that deep hole of work. In order to prevent this, I prevent the distractions from becoming one a distraction. There are 4 distractions that I have struggled a lot with. One of the top distractions is the phone. I find myself on my phone instead of doing homework all the time and it can be really distracting. To prevent it from distracting me, I plug it in in one room while I'm doing my work in another. I might as well charge it while I'm working so when I'm done it can be 100%. Another thing is Video games and shows. Sometimes I get home from school and I just want chill and turn on the TV or play Xbox with my friends. I avoid this one by putting in a reminder in my phone to do my homework right when I get home. Or to avoid the phone and ask my siblings or parents to remind me to do work before chilling. It is better to do home work right after school because its better to do stuff when the knowledge is fresh in your mind. Also it's great to get work done right away because when it's done, the rest of the day is mine. One thing that really gets in the way of me doing my work is if I don't really care for the subject or it's not my passion. This is a hard one but when I set my mind on how it will help me in the long run, the work doesn't seem so bad anymore. A more positive attitude towards the work really helps me get it done. The last and hardest distraction I struggle with overcoming is friends. Friends are great, but sometimes not great for getting work done. If one of my friends invite me over, I'm probably gonna go over or vice versa. I do one of two things. I do work before I hang out or I dedicate some time with my friend to just doing work. I feel that it's better to do work with a friend. Plus I can just hang out with them after I'm done which is a good motivational factor. I also set my goals for what I want to get done in the day. This gives me a clear view of what I should be doing. If I struggle a lot I to a empty room and do my work while listening to chill piano music. That is how I deal with my top 4 distractions.
It's good to learn to get away from distractions now because college is even worse when you have college distractions.
ReplyDeleteI get distracted a lot by those things as well and for some reason I start procrastinating and clean my room which doesn't get my homework done any faster.
