Blog and a Vlog -Paige De Giovanni

And finally, we're at our last blog post of the year. It's a bittersweet moment.

Despite being in quarantine and surprisingly wanting to go back to school and see my friends, I'm actually come to be more thankful for quarantine than upset by it and here's why:

My sister and best friend Kae is a senior this year. If you count the fact that school is closed for the rest of the year, she's already done with high school with no graduation, no senior prom, no final goodbyes to her friends, classmates, or teachers, and gets no final school walkout. I feel so terrible for her and all her friends and fellow seniors who have to suffer the same fate. To make matters worse, Sparta doesn't have plans for rescheduling these events and giving the seniors the sendoff they deserve. As I'm writing this, prom is canceled rather than postponed, and graduation is virtual, instead of pushed back to late summer, winter break, or even next year. Kae has said she'd much rather have a graduation a year late than no graduation at all, and I'm sure her classmates would agree.

However, to shed some light on the situation (for me, probably not for her): I get to spend more time with my sister. Before quarantine started, we were both super busy. We both had lots of schoolwork and practices for extracurriculars which meant we didn't get to spend a lot of quality time together. But now that we're in quarantine, we've started doing everything together from eating meals together to bike riding to playing games. Even just sitting outside on our deck together has been fun. Although quarantine sucks, we've tried to make the most of it.

If everything goes to plan, and corona doesn't affect next year's schooling, Kae will be leaving for college come August. Although she's only going to be an hour away at Rutgers, I'm still not ready for the sudden shift to seeing her every day, to only seeing her once every couple weeks. I'm thankful she's not going too far, but I'm still gonna miss her a lot.

Here is the vlog portion of this post. With my sophomore year just about over, I decided to make a video with clips and pictures of me and my friends having a good time over the course of our sophomore year (Sadly, none of the selfies I took while crying throughout the year made it in).

Shoutout to Georgia Paraskos (featured in video) for making a vlog for her post a couple months back and starting this trend for all of us to use.
A picture of me and my pals in the Shop Rite parking lot after I got sad at homecoming and wanted to leave (lol).

  1. I feel so sad for Kae and all the seniors. This is not the way HS is supposed to end. I LOVE this video and the song choice! Good memories - that's what we need to hold on to.

    1. Although I definitely annoyed some our friends with the amount of videos I took, I'm very happy I took as many as i did. I totally forgot about that video of us drowning Brianna and I was laughing so hard re watching it. I'll tell Kae you say hi!
