During your sophomore year of high school most of the students turn 16 and get their learners permit. Some people don't drive until they do their 6 hours with an instructor while others fina an empty lot and start practicing.
I have about a month until I turn 16 and can do my 6 hours to get my permit, so my dad and I decided it was a good time to start practicing. We found an empty lot in town and gave it a go. He explained to me the basics like positioning your mirrors, checking your blindspots, and my turn signal. I would go straight only using a little bit of gas then practice coming to a gradual stop. I had to learn how to turn next and it did not go as well as I'd hope. I went to fast and didn't turn enough, and came close to crashing into dumpsters.
I kep't practicing and I got the turn down decent enough by the end, but still not perfect. I really enjoyed driving, but its a lot of focus and consentrating and I have a short attention span. I think I will get pretty good by the time I need to do my 6 hours. It was a really goo first time driving experience to have.
It's good to practice!
