Movie/TV Suggestions by Gabby Olarte
During quarantine I have been been watching LOTS of new TV shows as well as movies. Here are some of my favorites with a little description of them.
Movies:
Movies:
- Matilda - This has been one of my favorite movies since I was younger. It is a bit older movie but still AMAZING. It's about a young girl named Matilda who grew up in a household where she didn't receive a lot of love from her parents and brother. She attends school where the principal is basically a terrible woman. She later on discovers that she has telekinetic powers which she uses to fight back against the principal as well as her family.
- The Last Song - This is easily my favorite movie. It's about a teenage girl named Ronnie (who is played by Miley Cyrus) and her and her brother have been sent to stay with their father for the whole summer. It's about the reconnection of her and her father through their love of music. It's set in a southern beach town which I really enjoyed.
- Nerve - This movie is about a girl named Vee who is known to not really take any risks in life. She then joins an online game called Nerve which is described as "truth or dare minus the truth." She has to go through a series of dangerous activities to "win" the game. The game takes an unexpected turn and her life flashes before her eyes.
- Titanic - I think pretty much everyone knows what the film is about but I just recently saw it for the first time. I expected it to be boring and more like a history film but I was very wrong. It follows the story of two passengers aboard the ship named Rose and Jack. What I really loved about this movie was that it was informative but was also a drama.
TV Shows:
- All American - The show follows the true story of NFL player Spencer Paysinger. The main character in the show is named Spencer James. He is a football phenomen who grew up in Crenshaw. He then transfers to Beverly Hills after being "recruited" and the show follows his story of getting adjusted to this new life.
- Outer Banks - This show takes place in the Outer Banks and it follows a group of young teens who are called "Pogues" (the poor are called Pogues and the rich are called Kooks). The teenagers go on a mission to find out what happened to the main character, John B's, missing father.
- Criminal Minds - This show is about the FBI profilers. They analyze the minds of America's criminals. Each episode has a different crime and scenario. This show interests me a lot and kept me busy since there are 15 seasons.
- Gossip Girl - This show is about the lives of New York City's elite upper class teenagers. Gossip Girl is a blogger and no one knows her true identity. She reveals secrets about all of these teens and the show is basically just a drama of their lives.
