Elementary School to High School - Lauren Ambrosino
Although I’ve been out of the elementary school system for now the fifth year, the memories still
reminisce in my mind. Waking up at 8 everyday to throw on my favorite justice outfit, then at
school make crafts while learning the basics of math. After a morning of work, we went to lunch
and ate lunch with friends. After that, I was the first to the swings and met my friends there. When
holidays rolled around, we had the best parties with the class moms and plenty of food. Going
home was always a highlight too because then I got to play with friends or watch TV.
Elementary school was filled with many more memories that built up my childhood. Those were
short lived though and soon switched into my more responsible years of childhood. My mornings
quickly changed to 6 am and struggling to find something that was cute but still abides our dress
code. Then 50 minutes of 8 different classes with a nice 20 minute lunch break. Only to find
myself back home doing piles of work from these classes and redoing it all the next day. Recess
became a faint memory in my mind as well as enjoying getting ready for school.

Don’t get me wrong though, middle school and high school have taught me things that elementary school
could never. To start, I’ve made real friendships, some that came out of elementary school and some not,
and I’ve made some not real friendships. I’ve grown to spot the difference in the two. Responsibility is one
of the biggest lessons school has taught me. Making sure my homework is done, having all my supplies,
getting to class on time, and much more. I’ve also experienced some of my best memories in these years.
Going to football games in the student section is one of my favorites. Or playing sports with my friends
and celebrating our wins. Not only that, but the dances have to be the best where we all dress up and have
a great time. As much as I miss sleeping in and having almost no responsibilities, I wouldn’t trade what I
know now for any of that.

I'm pretty sure you just described everyone's elementary school experiences that will forever be unforgettable, and the poor outfit choices that most wish were forgotten. Middle and high school teach people the important life lessons that will be carried with them through the rest of their lives.
ReplyDeleteI feel like we all had the same childhood because I vividly remember pretty much everything you described. High school's really different compared to elementary but I agree with you, especially the last sentence.
ReplyDeleteI like how you mentioned the Justice outfits! It's amazing how quickly things change once you leave 5th grade.
ReplyDeleteThis actually made me miss elementary school so much. My closet was full of Justice outfits. Also the holiday parties were the best time of year.
