Freshman V.s Sophomore Year (The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly) By- Noelle Hanek

I remember when I was a freshman. In fact I can vividly recall my very first day of high school- the apparent major milestone of school life. I walked through the doors-still in shock that my pleasant summer life had reached it's end. Yet, the thought of a brand new school year starting was thrilling to me. That September morning, my young and confused freshman self stumbled around the halls, staring at the vague crinkled school map in my hands, along with my schedule. I wished I had paid closer attention at the freshman orientation! However with the help of some upperclassmen, I managed. The feeling of achievement felt nice when I actually made it to my class before the bell. At that point, the lack of sleep I had from the night before caught up to me, but luckily I was able to keep myself awake for the duration of the day. Over the next few days, I referenced to my schedule sheet less and less and my confidence grew more and more. The rest is history.

Then I became a Sophomore.

I woke up after immediately collapsing into a deep sleep the night before. I quickly picked out an outfit to wear, ate breakfast, and before I knew it, I was at the school. This process went much more smoothly than the previous year. I felt much more confident around the building and it almost felt like it was a continuation of the year before. However this time, I was no longer among the youngest class in the school. I have been climbing to the top!(Slowly, but surely.) Now this year, I was able to help out a couple of freshmen, which felt nice to do because I was once in their shoes.  On the first day, I definitely had an advantage over last year because I now understand the school much better, what to expect in high school classes, and how to prepare for them. My first week of Sophomore year flew by. I personally feel that the days are going by faster than last year. It may be because I am accustomed to the entire school and had many less worries than what a freshmen's year may contain.
Nevertheless, my high school experience has gone pretty well over the past year and one week, and I am looking forward to the many experiences that lay ahead!
