Saying goodbye to summer is always hard to do- no more hot days by the pool, beach days with my friends, or seeing two of my sisters everyday because they left for college. To make the end of summer less painful, I try my best to look forward to things when school starts.
The first day of school is always exciting because you get to meet new people and teachers. There are some classes that I don't know many people in, but those are the classes I look forward to the most because it means meeting new people making new friends. I got very lucky last year because I really liked all of my teachers and based on the first few weeks of this year, I think I got super lucky again.

Other than classes, I can't wait for the others things in the fall. I'm on the high school soccer team and we have games and practices after school. This gives me something to do after school and have fun with before I have to come home and do homework. I also really enjoy the football games because cheering on the football team with other students is very exciting. Every football game is a different theme which makes dressing up for them and putting on face paint even more fun! Another fun thing to do in the fall is go apple picking. My mom loves to make homemade apple pie with the apples we bring home- it is so delicious.

When I get stressed over school work and begin to miss summer, I just remember all of the fun activities there are in the fall and realize its not so bad.

The idea of fate confuses me. I don't really understand how something will happen no matter what you do. It just seems very unlikely. I think we're constantly making choices that lead to occurrences. We make so many decisions a day that it seems impossible that fate can find a way around it all.  Awhile ago, I saw something called the Butterfly Effect, which doesn't exactly relate to fate but it makes sense to me. The idea is that a butterfly flapping its wings can cause a tornado on the other side of the world. Essentially, small changes can have large impacts. I haven't formed my thoughts about this school year yet because it's only the second day but my first day was straight fire. I got to reunite with the friends and meet my teachers and all the good stuff but I did burst into tears after school because I realized that I do actually have to go back every day. Not mentally prepared yet. I may have also just started sobbing because I woke up at 5:30 a.m. but I'm sure I'll have worse states of delirium as the year progresses. In all honesty, every first day of school has been the same for me since I became a sentient being somewhere around the second grade. All of the teachers ask if I'm related to my siblings who graduated long before me and have apparently left a legacy for me to fulfill. Goodbye 2010s - Grace McDonough

After a bit of pondering on what story I should put on display for the topic of creative writing, I realized that my idea bank is completely dry. So, as they say, write from experience! The holidays are fast approaching, as they always are and with it, a new decade. 2020. That's a big one. When we look back in time, it seems as if everything gets classified by the decade. The '70s are groovy, the '80s are colorful, the '90s are... slimy? All I can think of is Moon Shoes and Nickelodeon-gak. And Rugrats. For some reason, our culture has always been obsessed with nostalgia. The kids that got inspired grew up, and they draw from their childhood, which then inspires the next generation, who writes about their childhood and so forth.
