Reminiscing Summertime by Desi Tsamadias
Oh, September... every year it rolls around like a terrible curse that gets more and more terrifying as the years go on. After the sweetness of waking up at 10, perfect warm weather, having fun and no school, September is like a slap in the face for me and most people I know. With that, I would like to take a moment to reminisce summer '19. This summer was one of the most fun and growing times of my life so far. I worked at a summer camp called Solid Rock Day Camp most of the summer. Being able to build relationships with the counselors and campers was one of my favorite parts and I've made friendships that will, honestly, last a lifetime! All-day, every day we loved on our campers and had fun making crafts, swimming, hiking, playing, singing and more. The best part for me was being able to read the Bible with my campers and teaching them some of the life lessons others taught me when I was younger. After a long day of chicken and fries, running around like crazy, swimming until my legs hurt and lots of face paint- I was exhausted (to say the least). This exhaustion was the good kind though, and although some days were better than others, I wouldn't trade this summer for anything. I'm so glad I've had the opportunities to serve this summer that I did and can't wait for more adventures to come. So, while summer '19 was awesome, I hope to have as many adventures as possible this school year! Hello, Sophomore year (I say bittersweetly)!
Sounds like a fun summer! I bet you were a fantastic camp counselor!
ReplyDeleteThis was so descriptive and really fun to read. Literally how I feel about summer too. September is a huge slap in the face.
ReplyDeleteI'm sitting in class and read the chicken and fries part. Now im hungry
ReplyDeleteI agree, this summer was by far the best. Solid Rock Day Camp was the highlight of my entire year and I'm counting down the days until next summer when I can see old and new faces of young campers eager to learn about God. Plus, I'm already missing the chick-fil-a food we had everyday. Great blog!
