The Plague: By Sofia Horowitz
Imagine your classroom during a test, nice and quiet I would imagine right? Then imagine in all that peacefulness someone coughing disrupting your tranquility. Well that has been me recently, and many many others in the Sparta High School with this "plague" going around. It's actually just a cold, but the way it's going around the Sparta schools it is imitating the way a plague acts.

Before school started there were probably around 3 or 4 kids that had this cold, but as school started and people are kept together in close proximity for about 7 hours this cold spreads at rapid pace becoming a plague. You could be sitting next to a kid in class who sneezes or coughs without covering it with their elbow. As gross as that is, that happens because people are gross, but germs spread that way, and guess what you are probably gonna get sick now and hate that person next to you for getting you sick. Also, sharing drinks with friends- everyone does it- maybe they have a cool drink that you want to try, or you forgot one yourself so you're sharing, but that is a MAJOR way to spread your germs.
In conclusion, there is a plague sweeping Sparta High School and if you haven't been infected yet, just wait because you will be.

Ugh, unfortunately for all of us innocent students, this is incredibly true. After just returning from a nice summer of pure bliss and overall health, I (along with many others) got a cold within the first week of school. As you said, there are a multitude of ways (some fairly detestable) in which germs spread through the school and, just as your ominous ending suggested, none of us can avoid the effects of this so-called "plague."
ReplyDeleteThis is so accurate. I'd realized everyone around me was falling sick but after reading this post, I was sitting in one of my classes and it was quiet. All I could hear was people sniffling and coughing, probably because this post made me think about it, but I can't wait until this "plague" is over.
ReplyDeleteThis is so true, Sofia. I definitely agree with the sharing drinks part. Everyone forgets how easy it is to get sick simply from taking a small sip of someone else's drink. I've had this plague all week and I can't wait for it go away!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the warning - it happens so fast!
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you! This cold has been spreading so quickly, and, luckily, I haven't gotten it yet (knock on wood). I have noticed how much coughing and sniffling there has been in all of my classes! It's driving me crazy! I Hopefully, I don't get the plague and it goes away soon!!
