Tornado in Dallas by Connor Ailara
A powerful line of storms hit causing damage throughout the great plains. The line of storms was responsible for the deaths of two men. This line of storms is what caused the powerful tornado in Texas. The tornado crossed a densely populated part of Dallas and caused for 50 power lines to go down. This lead to more than 100,000 to be without power. 50,000 of these people would be without power for an entire day. After the storm there were over 40 reports of natural gas leaks. The amount of damage caused by the tornado forced governor Greg Abbott to issue a disaster deceleration for sixteen counties. Luckily, only three people were hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries.

This was pretty interesting to me -- I used to be weirdly interested in tornadoes and meteorology when I was younger.
ReplyDeleteI am interested as to how places that get a lot of tornados will fix this problem. Maybe they have to build the houses out of stronger materials, or rebuild the power lines underground.
ReplyDeleteMy mom grew up in Kansas and told me that she would often have to take shelter in the cellar when a tornado warning went off. When it was safe to come out, sometimes no longer than fifteen minutes later, china and other things in the house would be completely smashed and destroyed. Though I think they're cool, I'm glad that I have rarely been in the presence of a tornado.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine living in a place where this type of weather was commonplace.
