An Ode to the Night by Mia Jardine

So basically I wrote a sonnet last year for English class (those of you who had the same class as me may remember it) and I decided to utilize it for this blog post.

An Ode To The Night

I awake in a broken-glass dream state,
While the world is deep blue and hazy.
The walls of my room bloom with shimmering nightshade,
As the moon sings me to sleep with lavender melodies.
I bury myself in a sleep mist cocoon,
And the bluebell stars begin to gleam.
My soul lays between the earth and the golden moon ☾,
And with white shattering sparks, I begin to dream.
Beautiful visions plague me; ever so fleeting,
That we bottled honey-coated stars ☆
And drank them in the evening.
As golden slumbers fill my eyes, I forget who we are.
Gilded nightshade apparitions guide me through the night; the day once but a dream.
And as I awake once more, the birds do not sing; but scream.

The inspiration behind this piece

  1. I've said it once and I'll say it again, this is one of the best poems I've ever read. (Send my compliments to Eva too!)

    1. Thank you :). I'm really bad at writing and Eva definitely help me sculpt this piece to what it is now.
