Headache to Heartbreak -Paige De Giovanni

this is a poem about someone who broke my heart after I broke his. Feel free to interpret everything else any way you want.

I originally was not going to post this because in my opinion, it's really edgy and sounds better performed out loud (AKA reading this in my head and thinking I'm talented enough to perform it) but Nick and Georgia both read it and said that they really liked it and that I should so I've decided to post it.

Mountain Creek!! My favorite place on the planet!!

The cold is not the only thing I remember.
I had fallen and rolled down a mountain of snow
I groaned.
The massive headache from the fall showed.

Despite the cold, your smile warmed me.
Along with your rush to my aid, your touch and your sympathy.
We laughed together, my harsh landing turned out to be quite funny.
My headache resided and we continued snowboarding: our activity, sweet as honey.

This was February.
Times were simple, full of cheer
But things got worse as we neared the end of the year.

Winter was a special time for me,
Days full of our shared time in the snow.
But this year, I fear that things will be different,
As you now have a new life, a new person, and a new glow.

You've changed. You're not the person I knew.
It might be due to me, yet you blamed me for things I would never do.
I thought we made up, but I was mistaken.
You started dating another, and my entire life was shaken.

Although things changed, all I want back is my best friend.
Why can't this happen?
Why can't I be happy for you?
Why can't the snow and good times come back and make me less blue?

My heart has broke because of you.
But how can I be mad when I know I broke yours too
