Life in the Ocean by Nate Miller

While I was growing up, I saw all these inventions that my dad had created, but none of them would stay in the house because they never worked and always broke. However, there was an invention that he made when I was seven years old and he has tried to keep me away from it. I would constantly ask my father what the machine did, but he would never tell me. As a result, all this uncertainty urged me to want to test it out even more.
When I woke up on my twelfth birthday, I noticed that my parents were not awake yet and I decided that this was the perfect time to go test the machine. As I crept into my father's office, I thought that maybe the machine was dangerous, but my curiosity took over my cautiousness. Once I was in the office, I immediately began messing with the machine, trying to turn it on. I was finally able to turn the machine on. I was about to use it, when my father came running in yelling, "Don't do it, Nate!" It was too late.
I had woke up with a weird feeling and I realized that I was in the ocean and I had fins now. I transformed into a dolphin. I started to feel homesick and I missed my dad so much, but I didn't know how to revert my life back to how it was. I would have to learn to adapt to my new life. Over time, I learned that I was at the top of the food chain and that was comforting. Also, I realized that I began to feel a sense of freedom, but I still missed my dad.
My life changed when I met Molly. She was the most beautiful dolphin I had ever met and I immediately knew that she was the one. Eventually we got married and that feeling of missing my father came back again because he is missing one of the biggest moments of my life. Over time, I began to accept the fact that I probably won't ever see my father again. As much as I missed my father, I knew I had the best possible life I could because I had the perfect wife and I knew my father would be proud of me. Although my life changed drastically, I found a way to recover and find the positives in a life that I thought was the worst it could possibly be.
