Victorious - Robbie Leaves Rex - Cole Anderson
"Robbie Leaves Rex"
Scene opens in Hollywood Arts High School. Robbie Shapiro and Rex, Robbie's puppet, are having a heated interaction near Tori's locker.
Robbie:
Rex! You stole those Northridge girls from me and you know it!
Rex:
I didn't have to steal anything, they were practically running away from you.
Robbie:
That's because you said I had lice.
Rex:
I'm not gonna argue with you, Rob! You're a nerd who couldn't even get a rock for a girlfriend, let alone a Northridge girl.
(Tori walks by, hearing their fight)
Robbie:
I've taken your bullying for too long, Rex Powers! We're through as best friends, find another person to take care of you. You're just a puppet!
Tori:
Robbie! You can't say that to Rex, what happened to you guys being best friends? (under breath) And I thought Rex didn't like being called a puppet.
Robbie:
No, he can figure it out on his own. I'm so done with Rex's abuse. I'm the bigger one here but he's the abuser!
Rex:
Whatever, Rob. You couldn't survive without me keeping you cool.
Tori:
Guys, stop, this is ridiculous. You guys are best friends.
Robbie:
Not anymore!
(Robbie puts Rex on the ground and stomps away down the hallway)
(END SCENE)
Scene 2 open at the Asphalt Cafe. Tori, Jade, Beck, Andre, and Rex sit eating lunch.
Tori:
I don't know, guys, Robbie was really mad at Rex this morning. I had to carry him around all day and I haven't seen Robbie since.
Andre:
They've been in plenty of fights before, I think they'll be okay.
Beck:
Robbie seemed pretty mad, though. In Sikowitz's class he wouldn't even do his scene. He said it's been years of Rex's "taunting."
Jade (rolls eyes):
It's a boy and a puppet! It would be good for Robbie to finally get rid of that thing and become a normal person.
Andre:
She's not totally wrong.
Tori:
I know, but Robbie loves Rex. And who knows if Robbie will actually be okay without him...it.
Beck:
Maybe we should just let Robbie figure it out on his own since he's gonna be on his own now without Rex.
(Cat comes running in the scene with her lunch)
Cat:
Hey guys! I made this dress in costume class, do you like it? I had to use only paper clips and cloth. (Laughs)
Tori:
That's great, Cat, but we're worried about Robbie. He broke up with Rex.
Cat (sitting down):
But Rex is Robbie's best friend.
Andre:
Yeah, that's why we're worried about Rob.
Jade:
I say we let the kid live his life without his hand shoved up a stupid puppet!
Tori:
Shh, Rex is right there.
Beck:
Tori...he is a puppet.
Tori:
Ugh, you're right. But what do we do with Rex.
Cat:
We could just leave him in Robbie's locker so he doesn't forget about him.
Andre:
But we want him to forget about him. He can't get back to normal if he's with Rex and he can't do it if he's thinking about being mad at Rex.
Jade:
Give it to me, I'll figure it out.
Tori:
Don't cut him up with scissors, Jade.
Jade (imitating Tori in Southern accent):
Oh, heavens, I would never.
Tori:
I don't talk like that!
Jade:
Just give it to me, I'll get rid of him.
(Jade takes Rex and leaves the Asphalt Cafe)
(Robbie walks over to the lunch table and sits down)
Robbie:
Hey, everyone. Festus is selling burritos at the Grub Truck today.
Tori:
Oh, nice. Um, Robbie, are you okay? That fight with Rex was pretty heated.
Robbie:
I'm done with Rex. I'm living my life on my own without the constant criticism and backstabbing.
Andre:
Good for you, Rob. If you need anything we're here. I'm going to get a burrito.
(As Andre leaves, the scene ends)
At the start of scene 3, Jade stands in the hallway and sees Robbie running down the hallway. Robbie spots Jade and runs over to her, nearly in a rampage.
Robbie:
Jade, where's Rex? I have to apologize to him.
Jade:
About that, he's gone.
Robbie:
GONE? What did you do with him?
Jade:
Uh, I sold him. Robbie, you're better off without him.
Robbie:
Ahhh (starts sobbing and whimpering)
Jade:
(Mutters) Maybe not. Look, Robbie, you really have to learn to do things without that puppet. It wasn't good for you.
Robbie:
(Still sobbing) Are you sure? Rex has been by my side for years.
Jade:
Exactly, you have to learn to live without him. People might finally think you're cool.
Robbie:
Really?!
Jade:
No. But you won't be the puppet freak anymore.
Robbie:
Okay (Hugs Jade) Thank you, Jade. Thank you
Jade:
Get off of me!
(Jade speedily walks away past Robbie when Cat walks up to him)
Cat:
Hey, Robbie, what are you doing tonight?
Robbie:
I don't know. Usually me and Rex watch Oprah, but now I have no idea what I'll do.
Cat:
Well, I have a gig at Novu. Wanna come and get sushi with me?
Robbie:
Um, sure. I'd love that. Call it a date?
Cat:
Uh, no, Robbie. Not really.
Robbie:
I'll take that!
(Andre and Tori walk over to Cat and Robbie)
Andre:
What's up, Rob?
Robbie:
I am getting sushi with Cat later and Jade said I'm cool.
Jade (walking by):
No, I didn't.
Robbie:
Whatever. I don't need Rex anymore. I'm gonna fight all my battles for myself. Plus, now there won't be nearly as many battles without his fighting.
Tori (to Andre):
Is anyone going to tell him that Rex was just Robbie's mind this whole time?
Andre:
Just let the little nerd be happy for today.
