Book's I Have Read For Class By: Sofia Horowitz

In class so far we have read many books, some in class and some out of class that we got to choose. I'm gonna give a brief description of the books along with how I felt about them.

Beowulf: Many people believe that the story of Beowulf was "boring" and "hard to follow" that it wasn't their favorite read of the year. Now I'm not saying I am one of those people but following Beowulf's adventures against these monsters 2nd period in the morning wasn't easy. It wasn't my favorite read so far, but the overall story was interesting.

The Pact: For out first unit we got to choose a book to read from a list and then used it for further assignments. I choose The Pact which was a story that followed two high school teenagers who have been friends forever and dating now for several years. But one tragic night their parents are called to the hospital after the teenage girl, Emily, is found dead and her boyfriend, Chris, is found next to her. The book navigates what happened leading up to that night and what has happened since. It answers the questions of was it a suicide, murder, or double suicide one wrong. I personally found the book incredibly interesting with twist and turns every page not wanting to put it down.

Oedipus: Oedipus can be described in one word. Ew. It is about a man, Oedipus, who was abandoned at birth so he never knew his real parents. And as his life goes on he gets married and has kids. As the story goes on he discovers some troubling news about his passed and about his wife. The story to me personally as strange the whole concept was interesting, but it was strange to comprehend how all of it was possible. It was interesting to see how Oedipus dealt with the news that was revealed.

Big Little Lies: This story could be easily described as an Australian mom drama. It follows the lives of Jane, Madeline, and Celeste. Jane is the new mom in town she is single and young trying to figure out life on her own. She is very private about her past especially when it come to the father of her child. Madeline is the classic busybody mom, she has teenage daughter from her first marriage, and another little girl who is in kindergarten. Celeste is the mom everyone wants to be she is beautiful has a handsome and rich husband and the seemingly perfect life. Throughout the story she deals with personal issues that no one expects from the "prefect" family. The book dives into these women's lives and you learn about their pasts. The beginning of the story it is revealed there was a murder but it doesn't tell you who died, then it goes 6 months earlier and the rest of the book is leading up to that night. I personally loved the book it was interesting, funny, and very dramatic.
