What my life would be like without my cell phone by Nate Miller
In class, we were asked what we would do if we were without our cell phones for one day. My response to this question was that I would spend more time with my family or I would play board games. I realized that if I were to go one day without any use of my cell phone, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. However, when I thought about what my life would be like without a cell phone entirely, I noticed that these activities that I said I would do with my family would eventually become boring. Although I don't use my phone very often, if I would not be able to use it ever again, I don't think I could go more than a month. Phones have such a big role in people's everyday lives now. However, I just began to realize that if I continue to socialize by using my phone I will never succeed in a face-to-face conversation. Although phones are a big part of people's lives, we need to begin to limit the amount of time we use them because we won't be able to do simple things like have a conversation in person. I have set a goal to limit myself to one hour of phone use a day. By limiting my phone use, I am hoping to spend more time with friends and family. I am also hoping to socialize with more people in person. The more I socialize with people the more prepared I will be to be in a work environment. Lastly, if everyone begins to do these simple activities, we will be more prepared for the future and we will begin to minimize the social affect phones have on our lives.
Notice that there are no phones in this photo, they are all having a genuine conversation.
Yes, so many young people struggle because they can't have great conversations!
