My Future - Cole Anderson

My future has become very important to me, especially since coming to high school. All my life, my parents and others around me who were all older than me would tell me to prepare myself well for the future. To me that meant be responsible, get good grades, have goals, and try to be a good person. But, constantly thinking about my future often makes me think that all the mini events that occur throughout my day to day life will somehow negatively affect my future. While everyone including myself likes to picture the future sometimes, desperately trying not to fail at anything can definitely cause unnecessary worrying. I worry all the time that if the bad grade that I got on a test which makes makes my grade lower will ruin my dreams for the future. It's almost like I think I won't be good enough for what I want. But of course, if you are determined to do something, they say you will succeed. In the future I essentially want to have a job that I love and I can balance money and all other aspects of my life without worrying a lot. However, a lot of people (I think that a lot of teenagers nowadays feel like this too), worry about the little things affecting their big goal. This can be consuming, but the best thing to think about is just the goal, I guess. My future is ultimately important to me because I don't really want to have to think about my future when I am older, I want to independently live in the present. Thinking about how important my future is to me also makes me think of how important the times that we have in the present should mean to us instead of always thinking of the present as a plan for the future.

  1. My future is also very important to me. I'm really excited for college and after high school but at the same time I'm nervous.
