Something Important to Me: Sleep by Casey Coleman
Sleep is extremely important to me and to most others I know. As a teenager, I should be getting at least 7-8 hours but we all know that is not happening. My alarm brutally wakes me up at 5:30am every day of the week. If I'm lucky I get to bed at 11:30pm. This means I'm only getting around 6 hours of sleep which is absolutely ridiculous.
My favorite type of day: waking up at 11:30am. You can say that "I'm wasting my day" when I wake up this late but getting the opportunity to sleep for 12 hours straight after a long week of school and sports is rare so I have to take advantage of it.
I usually have a tough time falling asleep but once I do, there's no waking me. For Christmas, I got a weighted blanket. This blanket is literal heaven, but it makes it 100x harder to get out of bed in the morning. The weighted blanket makes falling asleep so much easier though.
Lately, I have had trouble staying awake in class. I try best to stay awake but sometimes gravity takes over and my eyes just can't seem to stay open. I feel bad that I'm being disrespectful toward my teachers who could probably use a nap too, but when I'm this tired there's nothing you can do to keep me awake.
At the end of the day, we all need sleep to live happy and healthy lives. This is why sleep is super important to me and should be important to you too.

I completely agree with you! I don't get enough sleep during the week, so I sleep so much during the weekends. On Saturday's and Sunday's I wake up the earliest 10:00, but usually some time around 11:00.
ReplyDeleteIt's awful that you can't get more sleep! I am often in the same boat, but it's just not right! I always think that if we had just one more hour in the morning it would make a huge difference to all of us!
ReplyDeleteI t's so hard to get enough sleep with sports and school. Even when I get a chance to go to bed early I can't fall asleep because I'm so used to going to bed late.
ReplyDeleteI wake up 5:30 every week day. I crave the weekends because that's when I can sleep in. I also use an extra-thicker blanket, which I LOVE. An extra-heavier blanket most definitely helps me sleep better.
ReplyDeleteThe latest I go to bed is 10:30 (week days). I do have a suggestion for when you wake up, considering the fact that you wake early and go to bed late. The first thing you should do is drink water. Everyday (although, I slack on weekends) drink water.I drink about 5 ounces and that helps reboots my system. Do drink more if needed. It just depends on your body. Second, eat breakfast. Whatever it may be, just eat, even if it's just pop tarts (I will admit, I eat too many pop tarts, lol). Third, drink more water. In all, that's like 10-20 minutes. I bet you won't feel as tired in the morning.
Also, I find it harder to wake up on weekends than during weekdays. Perhaps, it because I lack the sleep during the week so I feel the need to sleep more when I can. If you're having trouble waking up early, try thinking words of encouragement for the day or think of someone/something that motivates you basically just live. By no means am I an expert on sleep but these are just some trends I've found in my experience of about the last 2-3 years or so. Sorry that this is long.
Bruh, why I am coming up as unknown? Maybe this thing is broken...
DeleteAnyway, funny thing is, I wrote about sleep when I should have been sleeping. lol
I agree, I could definitely use a lot more sleep because I'm always so tired during the school day, and that leads to me sleeping for a long time on the weekends.
ReplyDeleteI agree- I'm writing this at 10:30 at night which is ridiculous- I should be sleeping right now.
