Something Important to me: Track and Field - Robby Cerra
Track and Field - January Blog Post

When "something important" was written upon the board for the writing topic, one thing instantly came to mind. Track and Field. It is my savior, and more importantly my "golden ticket" per se. Starting in 8th grade, I've been running competitively ever since. Starting off, I joined a track club in the footsteps of my sister, who used to run for the same team back when she was in 6th grade. Now, why is this important to track and fields importance? Because of my formerly-Adidas-sponsored coach. He got me in the best shape of my life, which I believe saved me from becoming a lazy slob that would sit around on the couch. Though, not being a couch potato isn't the only reason I believe this sport is important. My track club, Pure Acceleration, was one of the best teams in the nation, like, #2 in the nation kindof level. Being on this level meant competing nationally, and getting recognized by scouts for pristine schools. So fast forward to Sophmore year, and I'm getting emails from division 1 colleges regarding my 8th grade track times. In addition, I'm already set on going D1 for track on a scholarship, to either LSU or Texas Tech. With LSU currently in the #2 ranking in the nation and Texas Tech ranked #1 in the nation (According to the rankings of the NCAA). Even having the opportunity to merely dream about competing at the collegiate level strengthens the importance of this sport to me.
Nice! Are you gonna continue to focus on high jump too?
ReplyDeleteI don't think so... It took away a lot of time from practice and the jumping also killed my shins.
