What is really important: Riley Taylor

Something important to me

By Riley Taylor

Something important to me. Most people would say their family, music, hobbies, or their pets. Or other close people in their lives. But I amd going to be focusing on things that people do not appreciate. Things that are important to everyone, but mostly me, that go unnappriciated. After all, it's the little things that are really important

Phones. I don't think people realize that the rectangle in their pocket actually has more computing power and data storage than NASA's shuttles. The simple fact that these devices have become a basic neccesity in today's world shows human progression in technological advancements. Even you reading this. You have your phone most likely within 1 foot of your reach. All im trying to say is, these things in your pockets that we spend an embarressing amount of time on every day are miracles that we take for granted.

Another thing that I think is important to me is my Xbox. I know this sounds Cliché, but my Xbox is a platform where I communicate and have fun with my friends in my free time. I grew up on video games and the memories I have made playing with my friends are nothing but good. Videogames can connect you to anyone anywhere in the world. I also believe they teach you valueable life skills like hand eye coordination and the neccessity of team cooperation. Chances are there are people thinking, "really, your xbox is that important to you?" The answer to that is no. Videogames aren't really what is important. It is the people. But this amazing device connects you to these people. And thats what is important to me.

Just to make this clear, I'm not saying I don't care about people. The people in our lives are what make or break it. Whether it is your family, teachers, friends, or significant other. All of these people are important. They make you the person you are. But people aren't the only important things in your life. And im not saying that materialistic things like phones are more important than people. They are both important, but obviously your family and loved ones are more important that an iphone 8.

So much in life goes unnappreciated. There really isnt much that isn't important to me. If it's not important to me, then I wouldn't have it in my life. I believe in this philosphy and I think it is something we should all take into consideration. If you don't care about something, why is it in your life to begin with? At that point it is just not needed. People are wasteful enough but if something doesn't even make you care about it, it is even more wasteful than normal waste. It is meaningless

  1. Phones are taken for granted. I definitely use mine more than I would like to admit.
