My Broken Phone By: Sofia Horowitz
In November, I cracked the bottom corner of my Iphone screen, but I didn't get it fixed because it wasn't in the way of the screen and didn't effect how my phone was working so there was no point to fix it. About a month after that the glass on the screen that was cracked fell off so it was kind of open in the corner, where a piece of fuzz entered the inside of my phone. The fuzz messed up how my screen worked, so when I opened my phone to the home screen the fuzz had more control over my phone then me. I would lay my phone down on the counter and watch this piece of fuzz open different apps start calling and face timing people, doing all sorts of things on its own, if you didn't know it was broken you would think that the phone was possessed. This made it incredibly difficult to answer texts or do anything on my phone cause this piece of fuzz just took over. After about a week of dealing with this I went to the store and paid $150 to get it fixed.
Then halfway through January the top inch of my screen started to become detatched a little bit. It was only to the point where it lifted slightly and I could push it back down, but you couldn't see inside the phone at all and it had no effect on the phone so I ignored it. Later in the middlish of February in the midst of being caught up watching the Bachelor I dropped my phone on tile. 😬 When I picked up the phone it wasn't cracked which I was very happy about, but the seperation of my screen got about 1000000000 times worse. About 3/4 of the screen was lifting off now, my phone still worked perfectly fine, only my front facng camera had a weird black outline to it because it didn't line up properly. This only lasted for about a day I was able to press the screen back down so it was almost fully connected but it was still extremely loose. As time went on the screen kep't getting worse and worse until it eventually detatched fully. I was able to open my phone up like a book and see the all the parts inside of it that made it up. I would then push the screen back onto the phone and seal it with my case which held it together and it would work perfectly fine with no issues. I had to be careful not to put my phone face down because the screen would fall off then. That weekend I went to the apple store becasue I figured I should get it fixed before it gets worse. The people at the genius bar wanted me to pay $279 for a new screen, I said no because I was not about to pay that much for a phone that still technically worked.
The next day at school my phones touch screen became unresponsive, so I coud see my lock screen but I couldn't do anything on it like the touch sensor was disconected or something. Then my flashlight was turned on but I could not get it off because I coudn't physically touch the button to do that, so from 2nd to 7th period my flashlight was on. Also, during lunch that day my SOS button went off that calls the police if you dont hit cancel in 5 seconds, and since I coudn't hit cancel becasue my screen is broken I had to talk to the police and explain to them why I was calling. After school that day when I got home my phone offiicially died it would no longer turn on, and I had to accept my fate and pay for it to be fixed but it ended up only being $150 so yayyyy!
