My Football Experience- Parker Williamson

I have been playing football for a majority of my life. I started Flag football in kindergarten and I just love it. I felt joy when playing it. After a couple of years i decided to play tackle football because I loved flag so much and I though I'd step it up a bit. I already loved tackling and rough housing with my brother so being in a sport where tackling was allowed was awesome. I started to really like defense as I was playing. I liked to make it past the line and sack the quarterback or cover a man get and interception or tackle. I love to tackle. I mostly took up the position defensive end in elementary to the end of middle school. It was real fun because I got a lot of chances to sack the quarterback while I try to get around the big linemen. As defensive end I also had the job to set the edge. I was important so the other team can run outside for big yards. I liked this job because if they do run outside they run right into me and I can make and open field tackle. Those tackles are harder because its open field. They have every where to run and can juke you. Thanks to playing defensive end which put me in those situations a lot i have been able to practice open field tackles so they are pretty easy to me but I can always use practice. High school came and I was more eager to play linebacker because I can do both sacking, tackling, and covering. My linebacker position was called strong safety and I loved it. Our freshman team ended undefeated and underscored upon. Thanks to the great coach Procopio, Finland, and Brown that we got their. They were great coaches and sometimes coach brown would run against us on scout offense. Most of the time he would just truck me but I tackled him once. I was pretty proud of that. Now to this football season. During the summer we practiced a lot to get ready for the season. I met coach Kapplemier, who is the defensive coordinator. He is a genius with defense. I started out as strong safety which was now called the Sam because the defense was changed a little from last year. though as the season went on I went back to defensive end. It was pretty fun to go back to a position that I was really familiar with. I got some varsity time too which was also great. Even though I was 160 pounds going up against guys in the 200's, I love the challenge and had a speed advantage. By the end of the season we got pretty far but had a heartbreaking loss. At the end of the season banquet I got my varsity letter. I was so exited for next year and still am. Football has had a great impact on my life. Even though it has taken a lot of time for practice and getting better, it's all worth it because I feel pure happiness when I'm out on that field.
