Corona virus by Gabby Olarte
I know all the blogs this month are going to be talking about the corona virus but I had to share my thoughts. I think the thing that amazes me the most about this pandemic is how fast it's happening. As of today, March 16th, the governor has just confirmed 80 new cases bringing New Jersey's total 178. In just less than 24 hours, that's 80 new cases! I know I'm not the only one whose mom put their house on quarantine, and to be honest I'm going insane. I've been so bored that I decided to work on school to cure my boredom, I know crazy.
One new thing the corona virus has introduced us to is virtual learning. Before it started, I thought virtual learning was going to be so much better than school. But I was very wrong with that prediction. Virtual learning has caused me to take so much longer to do something such as a simple worksheet that would normally take me 10 minutes in class. The reason why is because I'm constantly getting distracted. I go on my phone, then I go downstairs to get a snack, then I go back on my phone... The cycle is never ending. Also, it kind of stresses me out. I go on Google Classroom and see 10 different assignments that I need to turn in by the end of the day all at once. Like where do I begin?
Another thing about the corona virus that interests me is the fact that it was predicted. Sylvia Browne is a psychic who wrote a book and in that book she wrote, "In around 2020 a severe pneumonia-like illness will spread throughout the globe..." That kind of freaks me out...
The corona virus has made me realize something, I actually do enjoy school. Maybe not necessarily all the work but school does have fun aspects that are now cancelled due to the virus. For example, sports. I can only imagine how sad spring sport players are now that their season is postponed because my club season is also currently on hold. I look forward to club season all year and I'm devastated that it might be over because we were just getting started. Also, I miss seeing my friends everyday. I've been isolated in my house and I miss human interaction with people other than my family.
The corona virus can be a very scary thing but I think we have to stick together in times like these and wait for things to get better.

So many good points here! Yes, we do need to stick together and I love your realization that school gives us all so much more then work! That Sylvia Browne thing is creepy - I saw that floating around a few days ago and I couldn't believe it. Hang in there and facetime those friends!
