Corona Virus Conspiracy Theories - Lauren Ambrosino
Since this month the topic is current events and every news page is filled with corona virus and covid-19 updates, I wanted to put a twist on it and talk about some of the conspiracy theories following the corona virus.
The first one, presented by Chinese officials, is that the virus came from Americans. They claim it was introduced by the US Army that visited Wuhan, the origin city of the virus, back in October. They have no evidence to follow with this though.
Another is a college professor named Charles Lieber who had a lab in Wuhan. He was recently arrested for this lab and some are trying to connect the lab to the virus outbreak thinking he caused it. He withheld information on his lab from the government that is leading people to believe this. This theory has since been debunked though.
Another theory is that the disease has to do with the upcoming election and it was planned as a distraction to the election. It is believed that fake news and about the corona virus is being spread to alter the upcoming election.
Another theory is about Sylvia Brown and her book "End of Days". The book was written in 2008 and predicts that a pneumonia like illness will take over in 2020 and spread through the globe and will resist all known treatments. This one is really cool to me because that's exactly whats happening.
I also heard one, this isn't very reliable because it was in a Tik Tok but it's interesting, that mentioned how the president was at a conference and a person there tested positive for the corona virus. This person Trump did come in contact with. In a Simpsons a while back had a scene of Trump dead, and the Simpsons are known for predicting things. The theory went that Trump would get the virus from the man at the conference and, like the Simpsons predicted, die from it. This is a very heavy theory so lets hope this one does not become true.
There's plenty more out there but these were some of my favorites. I also really like the ones I see on tik tok that people make, those are funny. But, of course none of them are proven true... yet. But they are really cool to think about. It can't just be me who finds some of this a little... off.

Conspiracy theories are always so strange!
