Coronavirus, what seems to be a new and dangerous problem around the globe has been getting much recognition from the press and is discussed on practically every news station and local papers daily. But you may be asking yourselves, what is the Coronavirus, why can it be so deadly, and lastly, what could you do to protect yourselves.
According to the World Health Organization, the Coronavirus is an illness that can range from basic common cold/flu symptoms all the way to severe respiratory problems that can ultimately kill you. The disease was first discovered in the Wuhan, Hubei province of China, but has since spread internationally and into the U.S. The Coronavirus can be found and spread from different species of animals such as rats, bats, cats, cattle, etc. Rarely have animal Caronaviruses infect humans and is spread person to person in close contact. Some common symptoms of Caronavirus are shortness of breath, coughing, and a fever. In the United States, there are currently 14 Americans who have tested positive for this virus and more than a hundred others who are being tested and held in quarantine, just to be served as a precaution and to prevent the virus from being spread any farther. On the other hand, in China, there have been nearly 60,000 cases and around 13 medical professionals have died from helping treat infected individuals.

- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
Even though our chances of getting Coronavirus are extremely slim at the moment, these are also some good tips to help you fight this winter/flu season and to prevent getting sick.
