Staying Positive:) By Norah Monaghan
You'd have to be living under a rock to not know what corona virus is and about the on-going quarantines through out the country. With almost everything shutdown, not being allowed within six feet of people outside of immediate family, and no exact date as to when it will end, it's hard to stay positive. Some people have been staying positive by sending out encouraging messages to their communities and reminding them to stay positive too! The Town of Newton (NJ) recreation asked residents to display signs of hope in the windows of their homes. All over town there are signs encouraging people to remain hopeful during this difficult time along with signs thanking those risking their lives to help others. In Sussex County, a teddy bear scavenger hunt has started, with people putting bears in their windows, so parents have a fun and safe way to occupy their kids while they search for the bears. Another way people are staying positive during the Covid-19 outbreak is by giving back. An example of this is a group of Sparta women that made masks for Overlook Medical Center in Summit. As corona virus continues to spread, health care professionals are running out of masks to protect themselves from the virus while treating sick people. The group of women decided to do their part by sewing masks from fabric to donate to hospitals. The group is now collecting cotton fabric, like from old bed sheets, to use to make more masks for other hospitals. Being hopeful during the virus outbreak can be hard, especially since we don't know when life will go back to normal, but we all need to stick together and stay positive!
Here's a picture of the Sussex County bear hunt!

Wow, this is so interesting! I didn't know there was a bear hunt going on.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, they are doing this in my neighborhood and it's very cute! We have also been doing birthday caravans, where cars line up and drive by the homes of anyone celebrating a birthday. It's a nice way to cheer people up and bring the community together.
