What SHS Students think about Quarantine by Casey Coleman
As we all know, we are facing a global pandemic. Coronavirus has caused schools and businesses to completly shut down causing all of the work to be online. At SHS, this means weekly live google meets, google classroom assignments, etc. I decided to ask a couple of my fellow sophomores how their quarantine and online school is going.
The first question I asked them was "what is one pro of online school and what is one con of online school?" Three of them stated that the best part is getting to wake up later whereas the other two explained that they love the fact that they get to do their school work at their own pace. The cons varied. A few said that the worst part is not being able to socialize with others as we would normally at school. Others agreed but also reported they struggled with having no work ethic at home.
The next question was "what do you miss most?" Unanimously, all five sophomore girls said they miss their friends the most. Four out of the five followed up by saying they also miss their spring sports. Then I asked them to describe quarantine using one adjective. The results were all negative adjectives: boring, aggravating, dreadful, slow, powerless.
Lastly, I asked them to give an honest prediction of what month they think quarantine will end. Here are the results: May and April each had two people predict those months and there was one prediction for June.
Thank you to Norah Monaghan, Gabby Canzoniero, Charlotte Putnam, Sofia Distefano, and Rachel Leitner for participating.

I loved your idea for the blog! I had fun participating too
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to conduct interviews! I hope we are done sooner than later, but the news makes me think otherwise.
